RUI BARREIROS DUARTE was born in 1948, Portugal. Emeritus Full Professor of Architecture and Urbanism (2023), Lisbon School of Architecture, Universidade de Lisboa, Rui Duarte is a Researcher at CIAUD (2005-...). Architect (1973), Postgraduate in Conservation and Restoration of Buildings and Monuments (1984), Ph.D. in Architecture (1993) Approved with Distinction and Commendation under the title "The Architecture of the Ephemeral" and Complementary Test "The Great Exhibitions", and Aggregation in Architecture and Urbanism in the Project Disciplines Group (2006). He is an illustrator, essayist, and editor. He was Director of the magazine "Arquitetura e Vida" (2002-2005), President of APCor (2011-2013), being an Honorary Member since 2021. He is a Member of the ECD-Environmental Color Design Group (2020 -...). Rui Duarte has 20 books, book chapters, and articles published in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, México, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, and Turkey, including an awarded Essay at the University of Caracas, Venezuela. Managing Partner of "RBD.APP-Arquitectos, Lda", he has won 44 Awards and Distinctions in Public and Invitation Competitions. He has architecture designs and works published in Books, Magazines, and Architectural Maps and has participated in Individual and Collective Exhibitions, national and international. He was a Consultant at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Illinois, USA (2007-2010). As reference works we can mention the Rehabilitation of the Belém Tower, the Armory Exhibition, and the creation of the Lake, within the scope of the 17th European Exhibition of Art, Science, and Culture. He is co-author of Ana Paula Pinheiro: Expansion of the Library of the Faculty of Law, Universidade de Lisboa; Rehabilitation of the Cathedral of Portalegre, Cloister and Annex Spaces; Museum of the Presidency of the Republic of Portugal; Expansion and Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Law, Universidade de Lisboa; Library of the ISA, Universidade de Lisboa; Rebelo House, Areia Branca Beach; Palm Tree Manor, Viatodos; 1st of May Square, Viana do Castelo.
