Frank Eckardt holds a PhD in political science from the University of Kassel, Germany. He works as urban sociologist at the Bauhaus-University Weimar since 1999. here,  he was a poointed as chair holder in 2008. Since 2018, he is the director of the Bauhaus Research School and programme director of the international master programme "European Urban Studies". His resaerch is in particular related to questions on social inequalities and migration to the city. He has widely published on issues in urban studies.
